Data & interpretation
NGS bioinformatics analysis services
Begin with the research question and the data you have. GSN helps define a bioinformatics scope that connects sequencing outputs, tables, and visualizations with the purpose of your project.
Match the analysis to the data
WGS, RNA-seq, and microbiome studies require different analysis paths. Work can begin with data QC and continue to mapping, assembly, quantification, or community profiling according to the research question.
Identify the sequencing platform, data format, sample count, and analyses already performed. Data produced by another provider can be discussed for a feasibility review before the scope is agreed.
Treat metadata as part of the analysis
Sample names, species, groups, replicates, and collection times connect data to the experimental design. Incorrect labels or group assignments can change the question being tested.
Reference genomes, annotation versions, databases, and relevant parameters should be recorded. For group comparisons, define contrasts and interpretation limits alongside the study design rather than after selecting appealing results.
Specify the handover you need
The scope should identify the files, tables, figures, and reporting that will be delivered. Examples include QC summaries, assembly and annotation, mapping outputs, expression tables, or taxonomic profiles for the selected workflow.
Request formats that support your next steps. Discuss transfer methods, authorized recipients, storage needs, and result-review stages. Additional analysis requires a separate agreement on its scope and cost.
Research findings must be interpreted alongside data quality and experimental design. Limitations arising from samples, references, or replication remain part of the discussion even when the analysis completes successfully.
Define your deliverables
- QC summaries and analysis methods
- Workflow-specific analysis files
- Agreed tables and visualizations
- Reporting with interpretation limits
Included tests and analyses follow the approved quotation for your project.
Common questions
A few useful answers
Can data from another sequencing provider be analyzed?
Share the formats, assay, platform, and metadata for review. Feasibility and any data-remediation requirements are assessed before processing starts.
Does every package include volcano plots or pathway analysis?
No. Visualizations and downstream analyses depend on the data, question, and research design. Include the required outputs in the agreed scope.
Can data without biological replicates be analyzed?
Some descriptive or exploratory analyses may be relevant, but statistical claims require limits. Suitability is reviewed against the design, metadata, and study objective.
